The Early History of Chinese Red Heart Association
In the 24th year of the Republic of China, because seeing
Japanese army invaded his country’s territory and caused the turmoil of war
occurring everywhere and people suffering heavy casualties, and all the poverty
and backwardness shown in the Northwest, Mr. Li Yujie thought that we
should do what we need to do no matter if it could affect society; therefore,
he decided to set up a "World Red Heart Association Xijing Head
Association," a charity organization serving the public.
On May 1, the 24th year of the Republic of China, Mr.
Li Yujie delivered a speech in the inaugural meeting of World Red Heart Association
Xijing Head Association: "I hope that everyone has the heart of a child,
carrying out the spirit of all
under heaven are equal, giving relief to the
public, rectifying the world at the time and robbing the rich and helping the poor, ascending
a height and effacing ourselves, from
near to far, so that universal
relief can gradually be accomplished.”
Until the 31th year of the Republic of China, due to Shaanxi
Province Department of Social Affairs was set up, Chinese Red Heart Association
re-registered itself, changing its name to “Shanxi Province Red Heart
Association.” In the 38th year of the Republic of China, MainlandChina changed its regime, and Chinese Red Heart
Association ceased its work, after the pause of the 39th year of the Republic of
China, Chinese Red Heart Association resumed again inTaiwan in the
77th year of the Republic of China. Mr. Li Yujie did not change his expectation of Chinese
Red Heart Association, in the letter to Li Hsienkuang, the head of the resuming
association: "The only condition for all peers and socialites interested
in working for Chinese Red Heart Association is that his heart should be like Red
Heart, and he
should examine himself to have the heart of a child, which is sincere with no
false and is willing to sacrifice for the public."
